Yes here’s another post about potty training. It seems that every mummy blogger around is posting about it! They must have read the same advice I did…do it in the summer time so that the kids can be outside a lot and if they have an accident do it out there 🙂
We started on Monday, I’ve been putting it off and putting it off. She’s going to be 3 in November and when we went to her pre-school meeting the teachers told us that they wanted the children to be on their way with potty training. I knew that this was coming, but Big M wasn’t ready any earlier. She’s only just started forming sentances – so I was unsure if she would be able to communicate if she wanted to use the potty or not any earlier than now.
As some of you will have read before I live in the north of England and weather is pretty up and down…this week it’s been more up than down. Not the best week to start potty training. Anyway we’ve tried our best, yesterday I was so fed up with going in and out when it stopped and started raining that in the end we stayed outside and continued to sit on the potty!!
I’ve read some bits and pieces about how to do it, and I decided to pretty much go cold turkey – take off the nappies during the day and simply just go for it. I believe that Big M needs to have some accidents to understand what happens if she doesn’t make it to the potty on time.
So far we’ve had more accidents than successes but we have had some successes.
Big M is talking about ‘wee and poop’ and she even drew a picture of it today so I’m thinking that something must be clicking!
At the end of the day we are giving it ago, tomorrow we are leaving the house (before I go nuts from staying at home all the time) so that’s going to be an interesting challenge but we have to go out sometime.
Wish us luck 🙂
